Cactus Monday

Happy Cactus Monday. Prismacolor pencils and Micron pen. Here is a pair of grafted cactus. Tried this a few times many years ago. The idea is to cut the top off the base cactus and then graft on a different variety of cactus on the wound. I don't know if anyone does much of this anymore.

I'm told that the reason they don't do this much anymore is because the top cactus doesn't last very long. It doesn't have chlorophyll and can't survive on its own. It basically is living off the cactus it is grafted to, and they usually rot and fall off in a month or two.

Having said that, we just got a flat of them and they look really cool. Nice bright oranges and reds. I think they're like $8 in a 3in pot, but I know someone who can get a discount...

I was in Belgium in spirit Margaret, especially when they started into the fries.

Thank you ann.

Tim..should have had your mother pick up one when she was down there, except I think she spent enough.

Yeah, and the money she saved she spent on sushi for us.
